Class should be treated as practice to dress well

Putting your best face forward may have a deeper meaning.

When it comes to getting hired, one would think the factors would be exclusively based on experience and education. There is a third factor that may play more into the mix: appearance.

According to a Feb. 21 Yahoo! Finance article, there are several ways people's appearance affects their paychecks. So maybe students should pay more attention to their appearance to be the most marketable hire.

Frogs’ 2011 season is just how ‘baseball go’

Published Mar 2, 2011

Blame No. 8 TCU's three-game losing streak on a College World Series hangover; blame the 2.67 runs per game in those three losses to the newly instituted bats for college baseball 8212; the ones with less ping and more plop 8212; or simply discount the losses as Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington might: "That's the way baseball go."

CWS hangover? The Frogs sit at 4-4 and have averaged four runs per game thus far and less than three runs per game during their current losing streak. Through eight games in 2010, the Frogs sat pretty at 7-1, averaging 9.5 runs per game.

Decked out in red carpet attire, from look-a-like brand name designer suits to Oscar worthy dresses, film fans gathered at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in what Alec Jhangiani, art director for the LSFS, said he expected to be the most largely populated event in one night for the LSFS.

"Last year we had about 600 and this year I wouldn't be surprised if we had almost a thousand people the way it's increased," Jhangiani said.

The definition of insanity, said TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle, is continuing to do things over and over and thinking something is going to change.

No. 8 TCU couldn't overcome four errors in a 4-3 loss to Dallas Baptist Tuesday night as the Frogs surrendered a lead in the ninth inning for the third straight game.

Even though junior shortstop Taylor Featherston knocked in two RBIs and hit his first home run of the season, 3,877 fans at Lupton Stadium witnessed the first three game losing streak for the baseball program since March 2008.

Combine should give Cowboys good look at potential recruits

Published Mar 1, 2011

As the NFL combine wrapped up yesterday, the Dallas Cowboys should have a significantly better outlook on the upcoming draft. More importantly, one TCU player would make a great fit in the Dallas clubhouse.

The Cowboys have the No. 9 pick in the draft and should theoretically pick one of the top 10 players available. Granted, no TCU players will make a top 10 draft pick, but there are a number of needs that Dallas has that can be solved with a wisely selected top 10 pick.

A very likely pick of the Cowboys will be Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara.

The squad was tied for the lead following day one action with Auburn at -6. Arkansas ended the week on top of the pack at +3, as all but two teams (Arkansas, -5; LSU, -1) shot over par during the final round.

Electronic grading services make education a formula

Published Mar 1, 2011

The Educational Testing Service presented evidence on Feb. 19 that found electronic grading services for college placement exams to be just as reliable as human graders, and the reverberations sparked debate in the education world.

Controversy flared between the technological-progressive side of academics and the more classically-oriented camp, according to a Feb. 21 article from Inside Higher Ed. Should computers be responsible for grading students if the reliability is the same and resources saved?
