The Battle for the Iron Skillet has gotten less prestigious as the weeks go by. The Mustangs are coming off a lackluster performance in Arkansas and the Horned Frogs have back-to-back losses against teams they had chances to beat.

There will definitely be two teams with something to prove on the field Saturday. In 2005, TCU was coming off a big win and the Mustangs were coming off a tough loss to Baylor.

SMU had something to prove, while TCU was on top of the world and got knocked down by the seemingly lowly Mustangs.

Strong final-day play helped the men's golf team avoid a last-place finish at its weekend tournament.The team finished tied 14th out of 16 teams and shot 34-over as a team at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rocky Face, Ga.

The Bill Montigel-led team finished 29 shots back of tournament co-champions, Alabama and South Carolina.

Sophomore Travis Woolf was the top finisher for the Horned Frogs, shooting even-par during the three-round event and finishing tied for 10th overall.

Junior Robby Ormand shot two-over for the team, good for 22nd place.

The soccer team got a full dose of Big 12 and Pac 10 competition at home this weekend and was able to split the two weekend matches.After pulling out a 2-1 victory against in-state rival Texas Tech on Friday, Arizona State came to Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium and secured a 2-0 shutout Sunday - the first game in which goalkeeper Kelsey Walters has allowed more than one goal.

Walters, a freshman, allowed just her second goal in more than 300 minutes in front of the net against Texas Tech and gave up another two goals Sunday to the Sun Devils.

Perhaps head coach Shawn Winget has a crystal ball because his predictions for last weekend's North Texas Invitational became reality.During a Thursday interview, Winget said he was looking for strong performances out of senior Matt Manly and sophomore Festus Kigen in the men's race.

Kigen came out on top of the men's 8K in his first race at the University of North Texas after being scratched from last season's four-mile competition. His time of 24:41.43 beat Patrick Strong of UNT by more than 30 seconds.

The College of Education will dedicate a much-needed expanded facility Saturday, the dean said.Samuel Deitz, dean of the College of Education, said few building adjustments have taken place over the past 50 years, leaving a need for additional space for the growing school.

"Our college has grown immensely over the past years," Deitz said. "This new complex ensures that teachers from TCU are prepared in facilities equal to or better than those in which they will teach."

My sincerest condolences for those of you who started Drew Brees this past week, but keep your collective chin up. The good news is if you do not have a wounded star on your roster, his backup could be available and become your new starter.

1. Seriously, what the heck happened to Deion Branch?

Turning 21 is a godsend for just about any college student. You suddenly have the ability to go into a bar, get carded and know that you will not be kicked out when the bouncer notices the ID picture is that of a 47-year-old man.Being of age and going to bars also carries a responsibility. Being the sober or designated driver is part and parcel of the bar hopping experience, especially in a city where flagging a taxi is no easy task.

A new parking lot is scheduled to open Monday on Greene Avenue across from the GrandMarc apartments. The parking lot will have 51 parking spaces available to anyone with a TCU parking sticker, said Lisa Albert, assistant director of communication. \

"It is a general lot that is geared toward commuters," Albert said. "But faculty, staff and other students with permits will be able to park in the lot."

"We're gonna beat the hell out of you, and you, and you ..."Sound familiar?

Every football game, thousands of Frogs fans, whether they are kids, students or die-hard alumni, are screaming this chant at the opposing team.

It is a part of TCU football.

Students are taught not to point at the other team while screaming this chant because that would be rude, however, that is why our amazing Frog Camp facilitators taught us to use our elbows instead of our fingers.
