Dance classes relocated for school’s renovations

Published Feb 28, 2011

Renovations on the dance building forced changes on students of the School for Classical and Contemporary Dance.

Classes and offices have been relocated to a temporary dance studio in the GrandMarc, multipurpose rooms in the university rec center and an office suite in the Rickel building.

Freshman ballet major James Vargas said the main difference he experienced was a rush to move from classes in the GrandMarc to classes in the rec center.

"In the old building we had a little more time to have a break before we get to the next class," he said.

Though some American colleges and universities are making standardized tests an optional part of their applications, TCU does not plan to change requirements as of now.

On Feb. 17, DePaul University in Chicago announced it will adopt a test-optional alternative for freshman applicants starting in fall 2012, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education. Applicants are responsible to submit their high school transcripts but they now have the option of submitting either their standardized test scores or answer a few open-ended essay questions, according to DePaul.

Frogs’ offense fails to bring runners home

Published Feb 27, 2011

TCU head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle told his team that baseball is a very simple game that is very hard to play.

No. 4 TCU couldn't muster the offense to defeat No.12 Cal State-Fullerton in the Sunday rubber match at Lupton Stadium. The Titans defeated the Frogs 2-1 to win the weekend series.

The Frogs have received great pitching and solid defense over the past two days. The downside: the offense could not get the hits to drive runners in when they were in scoring position.

Schlossnagle said the Frogs must focus on the good from the weekend.
