A former TCU professor of nursing proposed the institution of a new graduate studies program in her lecture Monday, a program the assistant dean of the Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences said is now being considered.Former TCU professor Jeanette Lancaster spoke about the trends in nursing graduate education and explained why she feels a new program called the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program should be implemented on college campuses nationwide in her lecture at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center.

The Frogs will take the field Saturday against the Colorado State Rams in Fort Collins, Colo, where they will attempt to extend their current winning streak to six games.The Frogs (8-2 overall and 4-2 in conference) are currently on a five-game winning streak, which ties them for 10th in the nation. On the other side of the ball, the Rams (4-6, 1-5) are currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak.

The H20 Frogs took home several wins against both the San Diego State Aztecs and Centenary Ladies, at Saturdays meet in the University Recreation Center. "I'm a happy camper," said head coach Richard Sybesma. "We're swimming really really well, really fast against some really tough competition," said Sybesma.

The H20 Frogs men won against Centenary 68-34, whereas the women won against San Diego State 71-40 and Centenary 77-32.

Four TCU students drove 14 hours to Fort Benning, Ga., where they joined more than 22,000 people in a peaceful protest at the gates of a U.S. military training school Saturday.The students are members of Peace Action, a TCU activist group that, for the past three years, has been organizing university-funded trips to Georgia every November to attend the national protest against the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, more commonly referred to by its former name, the School of the Americas.

After a three-game winning streak at home to start off the season, the Frogs will have their first road game of the year when they face the St. Mary's Gaels in Moraga, Calif.Last weekend, TCU pushed its record to 3-0 with a double-overtime win against the UTA Mavericks, while St. Mary's lost to the USC Trojans, bringing its record to 3-2.

This is the first time the Frogs have started off a season at 3-0 since the 2004-2005 season, when they eventually went on to earn an NIT invite after finishing with 20 wins, according to the TCU Basketball Media handout.

While most students will be packing up and heading home for Thanksgiving today, students such as John Gilliland will be staying in Fort Worth because of rising airfares.Gilliland, a sophomore marketing major from Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, said he's staying in Fort Worth because he waited until the last minute to buy a plane ticket, and now the prices are too high.

"The tickets were going to cost anywhere from $800 to $1,500," Gilliland said. "I've never seen prices that high."

What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Thanksgiving?Roasted Turkey? The smell of homemade pumpkin pie? Stuffing? Family? Friends?

These are all great things, but something is missing if this is the only list - the concept of being thankful.

Monday night's Carter Blood Care on-campus blood drive wasn't what its team leader was expecting, which she said tends to be an average of 60 blood donors. After five hours parked behind Clark Hall, Carter Blood Care had 20 volunteers donate blood - far from the average, said Adriana Lambert, team leader of the blood drive.

"It's been steady, actually, it's been kind of slow," Lambert said.

It wasn't until nearly 7 p.m. that the final six donors walked into the Carter Blood Care bus, she said.

An afternoon of hard fouls, quick drives and some timely shooting brought TCU to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2004-2005 season.Head Coach Neil Dougherty led his Frogs (3-0) through two overtimes before the final buzzer sounded with TCU on top of the UT Arlington Mavericks (2-1) 97-89.

"The kids continued to fight and grind and keep it up," Dougherty said. "It is one of those wins where you are really gald you got it or you wonder how did you let it go."
