School has too many pressures

School has too many pressures

I'm not going to say I necessarily "hate" school. I'm just really tired of it.Coming back from a Christmas break and facing the beginning of a new semester that is already more stressful than the last, has made me realize just how weary I've grown of being in school.

I am thankful that I've had the opportunity to go to college, and yes, I'm aware that not everyone goes, and I should be blessed that I get to, but that still doesn't mean I have to like it.

College should be enjoyed, valued

College should be enjoyed, valued

I have loved school since day one, when my parents took me to Kindergarten. I described it as a "magic land," while looking at the room full of toys and little people like me. From classes and student organizations to SGA-coordinated events and concerts, school always remains a young and vibrant community where I can learn and grow.

College is a place to prepare for your future. It is supposed to give you an outlook on your chosen career. If you are passionate about your particular major, then building the foundation should be fun, not tiresome.

The Lady Frogs saw a strong early performance sour Wednesday night when they blew a large second-half lead to No. 20 Brigham Young University, whose timely shooting boosted them to a late 67-64 victory at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The biggest discrepancy of the night laid in long-range shooting; BYU made seven more three-pointers than the Frogs, and shot 41 percent from the arc. Senior forward Ambrosia Anderson -- who went 6 of 10 from deep - hit two three-pointers in the last five minutes of the game to push the late-forming Cougar lead to eight.

Professor: TAs lend extra help

While many universities view teaching assistants as a reason for low retention rates in science programs, some students and faculty at TCU view them as an additional resource rather than a hindrance.Professors are responsible for creating syllabi and teaching courses, said Dianna Newbern, instructor of psychology, but graduate TA's in the College of Science and Engineering have office hours and often help with labs.

Undergraduate TA's are selected in the spring to assist with labs for the next school year, said Sarah Stack, a TA for principles of life science.

Q&A with Chad Huffman

Junior infielder (and quarterback) Chad Huffman sits down with Sports Editor Travis Stewart for a few candid - if not surprising - answers.Whis is better, baseball or football?

Whew ... tough question. They both bring something good to the table. Football is a little more intense because, obviously, you have 50,000 fans in the stands. Baseball is a little more even keel of a game.

Who's your weirdest teammate on the baseball team?

Playing in baseball means you got a bunch of weird guys ... including myself.
