Men’s basketball ready for the challenge of Big East

Men's basketball head coach Jim Christian said the TCU's conference change to the Big East has generated excitement within the program and a readiness to compete.

"Our kids are excited about it, our fans are excited about it and obviously I'm excited about it," Christian said.

The men's basketball team, however, was questioned by many as to whether the program was developed enough to play on the same level as the other teams in the Big East.

Every program across the country has gone through cycles of highs and lows, Christian said.

Degree candidates offer insight on study abroad experiences

Three December graduates share their memories and offer suggestions from their experiences abroad. While overseas, they experienced exotic food and diverse lifestyles and saw sights ranging from Machu Picchu in Peru to the Eiffel Tower in France. TCU students travel to Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and other destinations through the study abroad program. Twenty-eight percent of this year's seniors have studied abroad.

Harry Potter’s Quidditch might have potential to be an NCAA sport

Quidditch, a game created by J.K. Rowling in her fictional "Harry Potter" books, is gaining popularity among high school and college students in the Muggle, or non-magical, world.

Valerie Fischman, a student at the University of Maryland, is petitioning the NCAA to recognize Quidditch as an official sport. The process, however, could take years because athletic directors from at least 50 colleges must also petition the NCAA for recognition.

Senior Design show focuses on different types

As graduation nears, five graphic design majors are busy adding the finishing touches to their work before the TCU Graphic Design Senior Show. The event gives students a chance to show off their hard work and is an opportunity to get their pieces noticed by prospective employers.

This year, the theme for the show is "The Right Type," a concept presented by senior Rachel Clary. The graduating students each presented a theme and voted on which one they believed would be best for the senior show.
