Men charged with instrument theft looked like students

Two men charged with more than $100,000 worth of theft on campus were able to steal from the university because they looked like college students, a TCU police officer said.

TCU Police Sgt. Kelly Ham said the thefts were spread out and unnoticed because the men who were charged did not look suspicious on campus.

"They look just like students, so they fit in," Ham said.

Azim Ansari, 21, and Umair Khan, 24, were both charged with Theft $20,000-$100,000. According to the police report, 14 Apple iMac computer monitors and 26 musical instruments were stolen.

Last week Daily Skiff sports editor Madison Pelletier went 5-0 after predicting the winners from all five matchups. Pelletier leads with the highest cumulative score while Student Body President Marlon Figueroa has a 60 percent accuracy rate.

TCU Athletics change entry method to football games

As kickoff loomed minutes away Saturday before the Horned Frogs game against Baylor, many fans found themselves in unfamiliar territory at Amon G. Carter Stadium &- in lines.

Athletics staff implemented a new scanning system, which swipe student IDs and scan ticket barcodes, this football season. Scott Kull, associate athletic director for external operations, said that operationally, everything went well on Saturday, but he encouraged fans to get to the game earlier.

SGA approves $20 000 to bring live horned frogs to campus

Permits from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are the only thing standing between the university and two live mascots next semester, a student said.

Senior political science major Preston Patry said he has tried to get live horned frogs on campus since his freshman year. Last spring Patry helped pass a resolution in the House of Student Representatives to gain support for the initiative. In Tuesday's Student Government Association meeting, the House passed a bill providing $20,000 to make it happen, he said.
