As the 2010 college football season nears, Spanish-speaking residents in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex will have a new way to cheer "¡Vamos Ranas!" or "Go Frogs!" in English.
Horned Frog football will expand its broadcasting audience into the Hispanic community through a new relationship with Univision, a Spanish-language radio station.

TCU Associate Athletics Director for External Operations Scott Kull said the initiative to reach as many audiences as possible sparked the coalition between TCU and Univision.

Head volleyball coach Prentice Lewis paced back and forth along the sideline. She glared at her players when they made a mistake and wasn't afraid to make her point known.

Although this was only an exhibition match against the TCU alumni squad, Lewis displayed extreme intensity. Such devotion was the reason for one of the squad's most successful seasons last year along and even higher expectations for the 2010 season.

Athletics Director Chris Del Conte came to TCU in 2009 with a mission. He had a well-earned reputation as a fundraiser from his time at Rice University and the University of Arizona, but this is a whole new ballgame.

He was tasked with a $105 million renovation of the west and north sides of Amon G. Carter Stadium. It would be the stadium's first facelift since the upper deck was added in 1956.

And Del Conte's task was just as daunting8212;he had just over four months to scramble together $90 million dollars.

OrgSync will allow better administration and smoother tracking

Jared Cobb , director of the Office of Student Organizations, wrote in an e-mail that the website featured a series of tools that student organizations could use in order to make their jobs easier and more organized. OrgSync's functions will make for better administration and smoother tracking, he wrote.

"This increase in tracking will allow me to advocate on the organizations' behalf for increased resources with university administration and/or external vendors," Cobb wrote.

Uroomsurf.com is a website that helps college students find a compatible college roommate by using a survey system. According to Uroomsurf.com, potential roommates are put together based on percentage of their matching answers.

Leah Heefner, a freshman kinesiology major, said she found her current roommate on Uroomsurf.com.

Faculty and staff, many of whom were dressed primarily in purple, celebrated the century of partnership between Fort Worth and the university at the annual faculty and staff luncheon on Friday in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief was the guest speaker at the event.

During Moncrief's speech, he told members of the Horned Frog family that it was important to be an ambassador and represent the university at all times.

The Campaign for TCU reached its $250 million goal two years ahead of schedule this summer, an accomplishment Chancellor Victor Boschini said he thought was a wonderful blessing and a surprise.

According to the initiative's website the Campaign for TCU is a comprehensive fundraising campaign to further Vision in Action, TCU's strategic planning effort for the future of the university.

On June 22, Boschini sent a university-wide e-mail informing students that the campaign reached its goal.
