Dining Services is looking for a company that can supply organic food for Market Square next year, a dining services official said.

Legia Abato, Sodexo district marketing manager, said it is unknown if meal plan prices would increase if organic food was offered at Market Square because Dining Services is still in the planning and research stage. She said Dining Services is looking for organic suppliers in the area.

In a couple of weeks, students who live on campus might find parking a little easier after the addition of 55 new parking spaces, a university official said.

The parking lot, located on the corner of West Berry Street and Wabash Avenue, is scheduled to open Sept. 19, said DeAnn Jones, coordinator for parking and transportation services.

The university currently has about 7,300 parking spaces on campus, said Harold Leeman, associate director of major projects.

Female students at TCU can expect a reprieve from the high cost of birth control.

The Health Center is in negotiations with pharmaceutical company Warner Chilcott to offer brand-name contraceptives at a discounted price, said a TCU pharmacist.

Frank Calhoon, chief pharmacist of the Health Center Pharmacy, said the clinic is aiming at a contract with Warner Chilcott this fall.

"Hopefully, that will come to pass," Calhoon said. "If not, we're going to work on other contracts."

About 50 friends and co-workers gathered on the second floor of the John Justin Athletic Center on Wednesday to offer their well-wishes to Donna Shepherd, who has decided to retire after working for athletic academic services for the past 10 years.

Shepherd, who said she is expecting a grandson around Halloween, began her work at the university in March of 1998 and said she has enjoyed her time at the school ever since.

"It's just time to switch hats," she said. "But it's been a wonderful 10-year experience," Shepherd said.

The Campaign for TCU will reach its goal of $250 million ahead of schedule, Chancellor Victor Boschini said Tuesday at the annual University Convocation.

So far, the campaign has raised about $180 million, 72 percent of its $250 million target goal, with only 45 percent of the campaign period elapsed, Boschini said.
