About 3,500 students who have federal loans will soon feel the effects of the currently unpredictable federal and private loan market as early as this summer, a financial aid officer said.

Some lenders have dropped out of the loan market, causing students to seek different lenders for next fall, said Mike Scott, director of scholarships and financial aid.

"This is the worst situation we have seen in the 10 years I have been working with loans," said Melet Leafgreen, assistant director scholarships and financial aid.

Baseball to face Baylor Bears

The men's baseball team enters its Interstate-35 rivalry today against the Baylor University Bears.

Last season the Horned Frogs and Bears (16-9) split their two games, with the away team winning each time.

TCU lost its second conference series of the season Sunday, falling to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas 2-1, and dropping to 2-4 in the Mountain West and 14-12 overall.

Tennis team first in conference

The Ranch Management program announced two new endowed scholarships at the Annual Scholarship Dinner and will be giving five more scholarships in the 2008-2009 school year, said the Clark Society liaison and event planner for University Advancement.

The program now has 34 scholarships from living donors valued at $203,510. The program also has two scholarships from donors who are no longer living, valued at $11,000.
