Speaker to discuss education strategy for deaf Latino students

From teaching at the only university for the hearing impaired in the country to establishing bilingual education for the deaf in Barcelona, Spain, Thursday's Green Honors Chair speaker has raised awareness of the need for multicultural education for deaf and partially deaf students.


Barbara Gerner de Garcia, the speaker, is professor and chair of the educational-foundations and research department at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.

Ever pretend to talk on your cell phone or finish the crossword to avoid talking to people sitting at tables in the Student Center? I have, and I'm ashamed to admit it.


During the weeks leading up to the March 4 primary, students manned tables and encouraged other students to register to vote. I was shocked by the response of passing students - none seemed to notice the table, and many didn't even answer when asked, "Hi, are you registered to vote?"

The women's basketball coach was full of hopes on his way to Lubbock on Tuesday as his WNIT-champion hopeful Lady Frogs will try to steal a win from Texas Tech in the third round of the tournament tonight.

The new Neeley School of Business dean is a perfect fit for TCU because of his ties to the university and his record of research, the chairman of the Neeley dean search committee said.


Homer Erekson, dean and professor at the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City for six years, will replace Dan Short as dean of the Neeley School of Business this summer.

A Monday night road win against Dallas Baptist University brought the Horned Frogs above .500 for the fourth time this season following a 20-run offensive surge.


Last night's 20-3 victory gave the Horned Frogs an 11-10 record before today's doubleheader against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.


Last weekend the team saw its record go from 10-8 to 10-10 after finishing on the losing end of their first Mountain West Conference series.

The women's basketball team won its second-round game in the Women's National Invitational Tournament on Saturday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.


The Lady Frogs defeated the Boise State Broncos (24-8, 14-2 WAC) 85-56 and never trailed after first 15:55 mark in the first half.
