Head coach Gary Patterson said he has a goal on Saturday for the crowd to get involved in the last game at Amon G. Carter Stadium before the university begins its $105 million renovation.

"I want it to be so loud that they have to go silent count for the whole four quarters," Patterson said at a weekly media luncheon.

Over 400 TCU letter winners from every decade since the 1930s will be on the field during halftime of the game, Patterson said. TCU great Jim Swink and 1984 Heisman Trophy candidate Kenneth Davis may be in attendance, among others.

Merchandising students are thinking outside the box for a project in the promotion principles course.

Associate professor of merchandising and textiles, Patricia Warrington, said the students of the department of design, merchandising and textiles are divided into groups and receive the opportunity to create a mock store window that is displayed in the department's building.

Junior fashion merchandising major Caroline Crawford's group decided to be the first in this program to design a bridal window, she said.

Junior Jackie Wheeler and sophomore Brent Folan will begin preparation for their new offices as student body president and treasurer following the student body election, which ended at noon Wednesday, University Union Activities Coordinator Brett Phillips said.

Uncertainty still faces vice presidential candidates, as junior Brett Anderson and sophomore Brian McDermott, who will compete in a runoff election Thursday, Phillips said.

As this year's Veterans Day arrives, it's time for the requisite displays of patriotism that accompany it. This is a wonderful thing to see every year, and I love being able to honor those that have fought and died for the United States.

The university has done a great job this year by holding events celebrating Veterans Day both today and in the days leading up to it. It's the most events I can remember being aware of in three years at the university, and it makes me proud to see that we are giving these heroes their due.

As Sgt. Kelly Ham responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle in a campus parking lot, he said he counted 12 visible GPS devices on car dashboards.

He said when he attended the call for the suspicious vehicle, it didn't seem like students paid close attention to the warnings that had been sent out in regard to the recent burglaries.

"If the burglars don't see anything to steal, more than likely they won't break out a window to look through the car," he said.

Free scantron bill awaits approval in SGA

A bill awaiting approval by SGA's Finance Committee may help students save a bit of money on test day.

Tuesday night, SGA Campus Advancement Committee proposed a bill to allocate money to purchase Scantrons for students, Jackie Wheeler, vice president of SGA, said. The Scantrons would be provided for free in the library.

The bill must be approved by the Finance Committee before a final decision by SGA members is made. If the bill is passed, SGA will make a trial run this semester by purchasing 2,500 Scantrons, Wheeler said.

University students raise money to help high schoolers

Students from a local high school will be touring the university campus today as part of a scholarship competition organized by university students, a student helping to raise money for the scholarship said.

Junior communication studies major Meredith Woolsey said students in her group discussion class, taught by adjunct professor in the communication studies department Carie Kapellusch, are raising money for a scholarship along with an advanced public speaking class to be awarded to students at Eastern Hills High School at the end of the semester.

Horned Frog yearbook receives honors

The Horned Frog, the university's yearbook, won third place in the Best of Show category at the 2010 Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Advisers National College Media Convention Oct. 27-31 in Louisville, Ky.

Yearbook adviser Kathy Hamer said the convention was the biggest convention of its kind in the country and that she thought the award was a prestigious one.

"[The yearbook] hadn't won in several years and that made it fun to win," she said.

Hamer credited the award to the yearbook's individuality and artistic ability.
