Americans love their pets; there is no questioning that fact. With the Humane Society of the United States estimating national dog ownership rates at 39 percent and cat ownership rates at 33 percent, many TCU students should have many memories with their own pet or one of a family member or friend.

Pets are extensions of each owner's heart, a source of love, attention, play or even ignorance and control. Americans play with them, walk them, dress them up, spend thousands on their veterinary operations and watch celebrities tote them around in matching outfits.

No. 6 TCU equestrian moved to 6-3 on the season Sunday after a 12-3-1 defeat of Delaware State at Gambler's Choice Equestrian Center.

"I was really pleased with how we did overall today," said head coach Gary Reynolds. "I can honestly say that we really functioned as a team today. Coach Huffman had the Hunt Seat team ready and they rocked. To be able to win 7-1 on the road is amazing. I was really proud of her and the entire Hunt Seat team. The Western team has worked really hard and came back this week and performed really well."

Matt Purke tossed six scoreless innings to hand Texas Tech an 8-1 loss Sunday afternoon at Dan Law Field. Aaron Schultz, Jason Coats and Brance Rivera homered for the Frogs who completed their first sweep of the season.

Matt Purke (2-0) was perfect through 4 2/3 innings before surrendering a base hit to Stephen Hagen. In total, he tossed six scoreless innings, giving up one hit, walking one and striking out six.

No. 8 TCU handed Texas Tech a 7-0 defeat Friday night in the series opener at Dan Law Field. The Horned Frogs scored seven times on 14 hits and got solid pitching from the duo of Kyle Winkler and Teddy Nowell. Jason Coats led the offensive charge with four hits and three RBIs.

Winkler (3-0) turned in his third straight dominating performance, holding the Red Raiders to just four hits in eight innings of work. He fanned nine and didn't walk a batter. Nowell pitched a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts.

Although the U.S. rarely experiences any large-scale occurrences of racism or segregation nowadays, there are still means by which Americans are expressing segregation. They just think they're doing so in private.

According to a report in Time that examined racial preference in dating websites, whites were more likely to state they had no racial preference but still only communicated with fellow whites.

On the other hand, black people were more likely to state they were interested in other blacks on their profiles but were also more likely to communicate with whites.

In the first three weeks of running a shuttle to the West Seventh Street entertainment district, the T attracted around 50 riders using the service each weekend, Joan Hunter, communications manager for The Fort Worth Transportation Authority, said.

The new route began in the middle of February and runs every hour Friday and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. to midnight. The shuttle begins at Worth Hills, drives to Frog Shuttle stops like the Brown-Lupton University Union and then goes directly to West Seventh Street.
