Experienced Air Force offense could be problematic for Frogs

Coming off a 34-13 loss to the Texas Longhorns, the Frogs look to bounce back as they start Mountain West Conference play tonight against Air Force.The Falcons come into tonight's game with a 2-0 record and a triple-option offense loaded with experience.

Head coach Gary Patterson said the experience of the Falcons' offense and their team's great start will make it a difficult game.

"I think you'd rather play them when they're not playing as well one way or the other, because they're 2-0 right now," Patterson said.

No sun, no problem. Despite overcast skies and an opposing team that did not show up, the members of the TCU chapter of the Asian Student Association made the best of a water balloon fight outside the University Recreation Center.

Thuy Nguyen, a sophomore mathematics and education major, said the purpose of the water balloon fight was to bring cultural awareness to TCU's campus. The opposing team, made up of members of the TCU Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, were scheduled to appear.

Lauren Otto kills - on the volleyball court that is. The outside hitter for the volleyball team is punishing opponents and turning heads in her second season in purple and white.

During her freshman year, Otto began to make a name for herself by starting 26 out of 29 games. In a season that saw the team go 17-15, Otto ranked first on the team in double-doubles with 11, ranked third on the squad with 288 kills and third in aces with 39.

Sometimes you just need to go out for a Sunday drive.The adage is cliche, but it is one of those activities that helps to clear one's head before another dose of the daily grind takes its toll.

I forgot about the comfort of this activity until last weekend during my return from the Austin exodus that was TCU versus UT. While driving through scattered showers and standstill traffic on Interstate 35 with a couple of my close friends, we took the time to realize how nice it is to sit down and relax.

Starting in November, students 21 and older can walk up to the window of a new South University Drive restaurant and order a frozen daiquiri to-go. Buffalo Bros. Pizza Wings and Subs is scheduled to open Nov. 1 at 3015 S. University Drive next door to Dutch's Burgers and Beer. The restaurant will fill the old Texadelphia store lot.

Jon Bonnell, a co-owner of the restaurant, said the restaurant has a beer and wine license that allows alcohol to be served on or off the premises.

Men's golf came out swinging in its first tournament of the season but fell short in finishing in the top half of the Inverness Intercollegiate, finishing ninth out of 16 teams. The Horned Frogs shot 40-over as a team during the three-round tournament and were one of nine ranked teams to take part in the two-day, Toledo, Ohio tournament. No. 20 Florida State ended up winning the event with a team score of 10-over.
