Frogs remain on top of MWC track & field

The TCU track & field team had several strong individual performances at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. this weekend.

The Frogs remain at the top of the Mountain West Conference and in national rankings on the men and women's sides in both track and field events.

Head coach Darryl Anderson was pleased with the effort from his team as a whole after action concluded Saturday.

Women’s golf continue competition in Lady Puerto Rico Classic

The TCU women's golf team has completed two rounds of action at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Junior Rachel Raastad's 74 led No. 30 TCU into a tie with Florida State for fourth place out of 18 teams after Sunday's opening round.

The Horned Frogs' 303 was 17 strokes behind leader and top-ranked Alabama. With a 2-under-par 286, the Crimson Tide had a 14-shot advantage over No. 5 Purdue and No. 25 Iowa State.

Raastad had two birdies and was tied for 13th individually after round one Sunday.

No. 5 Horned Frogs stay undefeated against Fresno State

Junior Lyndsi Hardin earned her first MVP honor of the season as No. 5 TCU moved to 5-0 on the season Sunday afternoon with a 10-9 decision over No. 9 Fresno State at October Hill Farm.

With the win, the Frogs have now won six-straight regular season matches dating back to last spring and haven't lost at home since the 2008-09 season. Overall, TCU rallied on the Western side Sunday to outscore the Bulldogs, 1,433-1,423.

Frogs chalk-up eighth consecutive loss

Alabama defeated TCU 4-3 at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. TCU suffered its second loss in a row, dropping the Horned Frogs to 2-2. TCU won the doubles competition 2-1. The Horned Frogs fared poorly in singles play losing four of the six matches.

On the first court senior Emanuel Brighiu and senior Christopher Price, took on Alabama juniors Ricky Doverspike and Vikram . Brighiu and Price trailed early, but rallied to take the 7-5 lead. Reddy made a sensational dive to pull the score to 7-6. Brighiu and Price held of a "Bama rally to win 50-30 and give TCU the victory.

T offers free shuttle service to West Seventh Street

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority, or the T, will partner with TCU to offer a free shuttle service to students on Friday and Saturday nights.

The shuttles will leave from the regular Frog Shuttle stops and will transport students downtown to the West Seventh Street entertainment area, which includes a Movie Tavern, Montgomery Plaza and a Super Target, according to a press release from the T. The program, which is scheduled to start Friday will run from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Students, faculty respond to Mubarak transfer of power

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said Thursday he was transferring power to his vice president, Omar Suleiman, but would not leave the country, according to the Associated Press.

Mubarak said in a nationally televised address Thursday that the demands of protesters calling for his immediate ouster are just and legitimate. He said he had requested six constitutional amendments, answering one of the demands of the protesters. He said he would lift emergency laws when security permitted.

Texting while walking is literally killing people in the streets. Our technology addiction is taking its toll, and we have no one to blame but ourselves. This is bigger than carpal tunnel syndrome or eye strain due to low light. This has the potential to take lives. Students who are using a cell phone are 43 percent more likely to get hit when crossing the street, according to a Study by the University of Birmingham.
