Several members of the TCU track and field team broke records and earned first-place finishes at the New Mexico Invitational in Albuquerque this weekend. 

Most notably, sophomore hurdler Jordan Moore broke a 14-year-old school record in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries, finishing the event in 7.83 seconds. 

Moore would later break his own record with a time of 7.72 seconds, placing second overall. 

This puts Moore in the top 10 hurdle runners nationally, and secures a spot for him at the national competition, according to TCU track coach Darryl Anderson.

“That will definitely get him in [the national competition],” Anderson said. “The one thing he does well is compete. He goes to the line expecting to be successful. To do what he did today bodes well for his future.”

Moore’s 7.83 broke LaTarence Dunbar‘s 7.88 school record. Like Moore, Dunbar competed for the Frogs on the football field as well as the track.

Dunbar went on to play three years in the NFL after graduating from TCU in 2001. 

Sophomore Raymond Bozemans took first place in the men’s 60-meter dash with a time of 6.60 seconds. Fellow sophomore Kolby Listenbee placed fourth, setting a new personal record with 6.71 seconds.

Junior Megan Smith placed first in the shot put, throwing a distance of 59-09.25 on the day. 

“We’re happy about her and know her future is bright,” Anderson said. 

The Frogs return to action Feb. 7-8 for the Aggie Invitational in College Station, Texas.
