Six sets, two wins, one day.
The TCU volleyball team capped an impressive opening weekend as they cruised to a straight set victory over Connecticut, beating the Huskies 3-0 Saturday night in front of 2,166 fans at the University Recreation Center.
The win was the Frogs’ second of the day and third of the two-day-long TCU tournament as it came on the heels of a 3-0 victory over Grambling State Saturday afternoon.
TCU had little trouble in the first set, beating UConn 25-6.
From that point, the Frogs never looked back, winning the next two sets 25-16 and 25-23.
Senior Kristen Hester had a team-high 16 kills while Junior Megan Munce chipped in 37 assists.
Senior Jordan Raines, who scored the Frogs’ match-clinching point, chipped in 14 kills and took home tournament MVP honors.
TCU will be back in action next Friday night when they travel to SMU to take on the Mustangs in game one of the Doubletree Invitational.
