Texas Regional Championships to be held at home

Texas Regional Championships to be held at home

For the first time this season, the TCU men’s tennis team will be competing at home in the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championship beginning Saturday.

Head coach David Roditi said this weekend is special to him compared to other tournaments this fall.

“When I was a player at TCU we used to host this tournament [Texas Regional Championship] every year, it brings back a lot of memories,” Roditi said.

Sophomore Nick Chappell said he feels more comfortable playing on his home court, and hopes it will be an advantage for the team.

The team will be scoping out the competition for the spring, Chappell said.

Roditi said the team has been practicing hard throughout the semester to be prepared for this tournament.

“I want to see a lot of energy and excitement," Roditi said. "We have all the top teams in Texas coming to our home."

The team has been working well together, even this early in the season, Roditi said.

“I have seen myself and the team improve each match and tournament throughout this first semester,” Chappell said.

Roditi said the goal of this tournament is to get some of the men to qualify for Nationals in November.
