Coming off their first Big 12 win this season, the TCU volleyball team will head to Manhattan, Kan., to take on Kansas State Saturday.
This will be only the third meeting between the Horned Frogs (12-5, 1-2 Big 12) and the Wildcats (12-3, 0-2 Big 12). Kansas State leads the series 2-1 after winning both meetings last fall in conference play.
TCU has momentum going into the matchup with the Wildcats after the Frogs defeated West Virginia 3-1 Wednesday. Yvonne Igodan led the team in kills for the ninth time this season after posting a match-high 19. Igodan leads the team in all matches with 172 kills and is second in the Big 12 with a .363 hitting percentage.
First-years Natalie Gower and Shane Peters had career nights against WVU with Gower notching her first double-digit kill performance this season with 10 kills and only one error and Peters recording a career-high 18 digs.
Kansas State is looking for its first conference win of the season after dropping their first two matches to West Virginia (3-1) and in-state rival Kansas (3-0). In the match against the Jayhawks, two-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention Kaitlynn Pelger led the Wildcats with 11 kills, while Courtney Traxson chipped in with 10.
Pelger takes the offensive lead for Kansas State with 158 kills, but Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year Katie Brand is the one dishing out the assists as she is averaging 9.81 assists per set.
First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. at Ahearn Field House. The match will be televised live on Fox College Sports Central.
