After a heartbreaking five-set loss to Texas Tech on Saturday, the TCU volleyball team is looking to snap a two-game losing streak against Baylor on Wednesday.
The Horned Frogs (12-7, 1-4 Big 12) travel to Waco after falling short of a comeback over Tech in five sets.
TCU freshman middle blocker Natalie Gower set season- and career-high records in the match with 16 kills. Junior right-side hitter Stephanie Holland followed with 14 kills, and freshman outside hitter, the third Horned Frog player to finish in double digits, recorded 10 kills.
Sophomore setter Alexia Heist finished with 24 assists and 13 digs, while freshman libero Shane Peters and sophomore defensive specialist Sutton Sunstrum added 18 and 12 digs, respectively.
Baylor (9-11, 1-3 Big 12) is coming off their first conference win of the season with a 3-0 victory over West Virginia on Wednesday.
Bears’ sophomore outside hitter Thea Munch-Soegaard recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs. Senior outside hitter Zoe Adom added 10 kills.
Sophomore libero Mackenzie Mayo finished with 12 digs and sophomore setter Amy Rosenbaum chipped in 35 assists in the match.
The teams are meeting for the first time this season and for the 11th time overall, with Baylor holding a 9-1 advantage over the Frogs. TCU’s only victory over the Bears came in 2011, and three of the last five matches have gone to five sets.
First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Waco. The match will be televised live on FSSW.
