TCU volleyball loses match to Kansas

The TCU volleyball team lost their match in the University Recreation Center against Kansas today after playing four sets.

Despite winning the first set, TCU could not hold back Kansas as they dropped three sets in a row in front of a crowd of 1050 people.  

TCU (13-11, 2-8 Big 12) won the first set of the match  25-20, but the Jayhawks (18-5, 8-2 Big 12) responded by winning the next three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-23.

Junior right side hitter Stephanie Holland led the Horned Frogs in kills with 14, while freshman outside hitter Ashley Smith contributed 13. Sophomore setter Alexia Heist had a team high 27 assists and redshirt freshman setter Trisha Langley chipped in 20. Freshman Shane Peters and sophomore Sutton Sunstrum both recorded eight digs.

For the Jayhawks, senior outside hitter Catherine Carmichael led the team with 16 kills, while junior outside hitter Chelsea Albers recorded 14. Senior setter Erin McNorton recorded a game high of 53 assists and also had a team high of 14 digs.

TCU had a total of 11 team blocks while Kansas had five.

The Horned Frogs hit the road for their next match against Prairie View A&M at 6 p.m. Nov. 6.
