Dani Dennison and Allye Beth Deaton, two freshmen stand-outs from the volleyball team’s strong opening weekend, have been honored by TCU for their incredible individual performances.

Dennison, a freshman libero from Huntington Beach, Calif., solidified herself into starting lineup and made a name for herself when she secured a spot on the Cowtown Classic’s all-tournament team. In Sunday’s sweep against Rice, Dennison earned a career-high 20 digs and finished with 50 digs on the weekend.

Deaton, a freshman outside hitter from Waco, Texas, made the all-tournament team as well. Deaton played a huge role in the team’s success over the weekend, earning kills during very tight moments. She led the Horned Frogs to victory when she posted three straight kills against Coastal Carolina and earned eight kills in the game against Rice.

Following Sunday’s win against Rice, head coach Jill Kramer praised her freshmen for their performance over the entire weekend.

“It was hard to tell they’re freshmen,” Kramer said. “They have a lot of confidence in their abilities and their teammates have a lot of confidence in them. They have a lot of support from their teammates, and they’re working hard every day. It’s easy to be comfortable on the court knowing everybody has your back.”

For the third consecutive season, the Horned Frogs won their opening weekend tournament and started the season 3-0.

The Frogs will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., this weekend to compete in the Home2Suites Seminole Invitational on the campus of Florida State University.
