TCU took down Tulsa Wednesday with a 4-0 win to improve to 6-2 on the year.
Following a 17-day break, the Horned Frogs wasted no time picking up the doubles point as the No. 57 duo of Alex Rybakov and Guillermo Nuñez cruised to a 6-1 win. Alastair Gray and Reese Stadler downed Tulsa’s Joshua Goodger and Jared Hing, 6-4.
TCU improved to a perfect 6-0 when they pick up the doubles point this season.
“I thought we put a lot of time into our doubles,” head coach David Roditi said, speaking on the extended break. “I thought we had a great performance at No. 2 doubles and even No. 3 doubles.”
Sophomore Alastair Gray made his return to singles play and downed Lucca Baptista 6-0 in the first set before the match was retired in the second set. That was followed by No. 47 Trevor Johnson’s victory over Goodger as Johnson remained unbeaten in singles play.
No. 42 Rybakov finished off the Golden Hurricane as he defeated Tulsa’s Majed Kilani, 6-1, 6-4.
“It was a nice win for Rybakov because Kilani can play,” Roditi said.
TCU picked up their second consecutive 4-0 win, doing the same on the road at SMU on February 11, as the Horned Frogs get set for a top-30 matchup this weekend.
“If you’re ever looking for things to do in Tulsa, come check us out! I am proud of our team and we needed this match to get ready for Illinois and that is a big match for us,” Roditi said.
