No. 14 TCU beach volleyball will compete in the Fight in the Fort tournament Saturday and Sunday at the TCU Beach Courts, their last home meet of the 2018 season.
The Horned Frogs play host to No. 8 Cal Poly Mustangs, No. 18 Tulane Green Wave and the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Before the match against the Sun Devils, the Frogs will honor four seniors: Jillian Bergeson, Cassie House, Brooke Sassin and Kristy Wieser.
The Horned Frog opened the 2018 season last week with a record of 3-1 for the third consecutive year. In last weekend’s Horned Frog Challenge, the Frogs had wins against the Houston Baptist Huskies, Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas and the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Their only loss was to No. 11 Florida International.
During the Horned Frog Challenge, the combos Haven Hill/House, Bergeson/Jaelyn Greene, and Avery Arellano/Jensyn Bledsoe combined to go 3-1. Sassin and Jordan Westendorff finished 2-1, while Hannah Rodgers and Molly Scheel went 2-2 for the weekend.
The Frogs are scheduled to play Tulane Saturday at 11 a.m. and will face a quick turnaround against the Mustangs at 3 p.m.
The Horned Frogs and the Green Wave will be meeting for the third time in school history, with Tulane winning both of the previous matches. Their last meeting was on April 30, 2016.
The Mustangs have won three matches over the Grand Canyon Antelopes, the Pepperdine Waves and the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their opening tournament last weekend. The Horned Frogs and Mustangs will meet for the third time in school history, with TCU having the 2-0 advantage. Their last meeting was on March 16, 2016.
Sunday, TCU will play Arizona State at noon. The Sun Devils lost to the USC Trojans and the Mustangs in their season-opening tournament. Their only win was to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Horned Frogs are 1-2 all-time against the Sun Devils.
While this Fight in the Fort tournament marks the end of the Frog’s home season, they still have games scheduled through the end of April for tournaments in California, South Carolina, Florida and Louisiana.
