Though the TCU Hockey team faced immense adversity at the beginning of the season by dropping their first twelve games, they’ve turned their season around during the past two weeks.

After four consecutive wins, the Frogs look to keep rolling as they advance toward the playoffs in February.

“We didn’t have an ideal start to the season, so any wins we can get down the stretch will help us gain momentum heading into the postseason,” goalie Owen Roche said.

This weekend, TCU will face Dallas Baptist for the third time this season. The Frogs lost against the Patriots twice in September but hope to show their growth as a team by making a statement against the division rival.

“I believe we are a completely different squad than we were four or five months ago,” forward Sam Giese said. “We approached the first game against DBU to get a feel for our teammates. Now that we have discovered how to work together as a team, we are aiming to prove that we are here for a reason.”

The first two games against the Patriots were played on Dallas Baptist’s home ice in Irving, but this weekend flips to TCU’s home ice — the StarCenter in Euless. The Frogs will look to make use of advantage and complete a two-game sweep.

Following this weekend, the Frogs will only have two games remaining in the regular season.

TCU has already clinched their playoff spot as the number three seed in their division; DBU is right above them in the second seed spot. This means that the teams will face each other again in the first game of playoffs.

“Having lost to DBU already this year and knowing we will be facing them in the playoffs, a win or two this weekend will really boost the team’s confidence heading into playoffs,” Roche said.

Giese called the games this weekend “must-wins.”

“We get a chance to look at the team we play in our first playoff game so it is crucial that we win these two games this weekend to prove we shouldn’t be taken lightly come playoffs,” said Giese.
