UPDATE: 6:00 p.m. – Water Restored to Campus Facilties
The break has been isolated on Bellaire Dr. North and water has been restored to all campus facilities, according to Dick Bryan, the interim assistant vice chancellor for facilities operation.
The City of Fort Worth has estimated that it will take around eight hours to fix the break and damages to the road may take several days to repair.
Break on campus affects some buildings Monday afternoon
A Fort Worth water main broke Monday around 2:10 p.m. and some areas of campus are currently without water.
“The admission building doesn’t have water right now,” said Sam Schulp, TCU’s plumbing supervisor. “But when they shut the valves off, other areas get a lot of pressure.”
Schlup said staff at the city of Fort Worth are on their way to repair the break.
The main was located between the TCU football practice field and the Worth Hills village area of campus on Bellaire Drive North.
The news came in an email from Glenn Putnam, the director of utilities, to students and faculty.
Putnam wrote in the email that an update will be sent when a time frame to fix the problem is determined.
TCU has experienced other similar incidences in the past. The most recent example came in January when pipes burst in King Hall.
