TCU volleyball’s Melanie Parra is the first-ever back-to-back AVCA National Player of the Week.
Parra’s tenure as a Horned Frog has been nothing short of record-breaking.
Her 2023 report card showed one of the most successful single-seasons in program history. Her most notable accolades include being named AVCA Third Team All-American, AVCA All-Southwest Region First Team and All-Big 12 First Team.
She received her first AVCA award in 2023 after she recorded her season and program-best 34 kills in four sets in a 3-1 victory over Florida State. She had another game with 34 kills, the first in program history to have two.
Parra was the first player in program history to earn AVCA National Player of the Week honors.
Over 29 matches in the 2023 season, Parra recorded 482 kills, 47 aces, 266 digs, 70 blocks and 569 points, holding the new record for most points in a single season.
This season, Parra leads with 158 kills, 70 more than Jalyn Gibson who stands at second. She also leads in services aces with 13.
Alongside her AVCA awards, she has also been awarded Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.
