As the spring semester comes to an end, many on-campus students are preparing to move out of their dorms.
TCU students will need to move out of their dorms within 24 hours of their last final or by noon on Saturday, May 11, 2025.
“The move-out process is a very detailed and strict process as we need to make sure every unit is moved out of so housekeeping can come clean them and prep them for anyone who may live in the dorms over break,” said Apurva Mamidenna, a junior music education major and Village East resident assistant (RA).
TCU provides students with a move-out guide, which has been updated for the 2024-2025 academic year. The list provides students with information on move-out dates and times, TCU-approved moving vendors, late departure requests, packing procedures and mentions the TCU ReFrog program available to students.
The ReFrog program is a TCU sustainability event that allows students to reduce waste by discarding items at stations placed around campus.
“I think it is a great program because as an RA, I have seen how many things have gotten thrown out, but thanks to the ReFrog program, people are able to shift and reduce waste on campus and on the planet,” Mamidenna said.
Seven ReFrog stations will be located on campus with one new location being added on the east side of campus near Molly Reid Hall.
Proposed dates for the 2025 ReFrog stations are May 5-6th, 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. (locations 2 & 5 only), May 7-9th, 2 p.m.- 7 p.m. (all locations) and May 10th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
“Last year we estimated it was around 10,000 items that we kept out of the landfill,” said Wendy Macias, the associate professor and associate dean of undergraduate studies, strategic communication.

At all ReFrog stations, students and faculty can see what has been discarded by others and may claim the discarded items.
“I donated a couple of things last year and I was also able to get myself a couch from the Refrog capsules on campus,” Lillianna Ball, a senior sports broadcasting major, said.
Items not claimed by students and faculty are designated to TCU’s TRIO program and the ReFrog program’s community partners including The Wellman Project and Inspired Vision Compassion Center.
