9 p.m. to midnight Wednesdays, weekly
Just 1.2 miles from campus, Courtside Kitchen offers pickleball and dining.
“This is the place to be on Wednesdays,” Wesley Hill, a senior marketing and management major, said. “We started coming after my business class Wednesday nights.”
Courtside Kitchen offers free admission and pickleball equipment to college students with a valid student ID.
“Courtside Kitchen is Fort Worth’s premier pickleball and dining destination, offering a unique blend of casual fun, mouthwatering food, and exciting events,” according to the website. “Enjoy delicious, chef-crafted meals and refreshing drinks as you watch or join in on the action across multiple pickleball courts.”

10:30 p.m. to midnight Thursdays, weekly
It’s time to bring out your boots. Billy Bob’s Texas offers free admission with a physical college ID card. Visitors must be 18 or older with valid identification to enter.
Attire at Billy Bob’s ranges from blue jeans, cowboy boots and a casual top to short, flowy dresses and cowboy hats. Although about 20 minutes from campus, you can grab some friends to split the cost of a ride-hailing service or gas.

3. Amon Carter Museum of American Art
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
Located in the Fort Worth Cultural District just 11 minutes from campus, the art museum features paintings, sculptures, photographs and writings. The Carter Museum is always free.
“Our founder wanted the museum to be a free resource to the community, and thanks to the ongoing support of our members and donors, we offer free admission to everyone, every day,” according to the website. “Some events may have a fee.”
Twice a year, the museum hosts “College Night at the Carter.” This fall’s event is on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5-8 p.m.
