A student ministry group hopes to "Ignite" faiths of all kinds by congregating together for one day each week.

Women, men, friends, strangers, art majors, business majors.

Whether it be by word of mouth, t-shirts, or candies, many students have found out about Ignite and have taken the time out of their day at 9 p.m. every Monday for four weeks to come worship.

A student has brought the group back to campus in hopes to save animals before it's too late.

One student organization partnered with a local non-profit organization to raise money and awareness for their common cause.

Sophomore Lora Choi decided to bring the student-organization People for Animal Well-Being, or PAW, back on-campus this year. She set a goal to raise awareness about animal cruelty among students.

Golfer receives honors three years running

Senior golfer Melissa Loh was named to the National Golf Coaches Association's All-America Scholar Team for the third year in a row.

It's the third straight year Loh has received the honor and the 12th-consecutive season that TCU has been represented on the squad. Loh is the first Horned Frog to be an All-America Scholar in three consecutive years since Camille Blackerby appeared on the team all four years at TCU (2004-07).

Football team ranks high on preseason polls

The football team has tied with Nebraska in a composite average of preseason top-25 polls by six major magazines.

The magazines used in the analysis were Phil Steele's College Football Preview, Sporting News, Athlon Sports, Lindy's, Yahoo! Sports and Dave Campbell's Texas Football.



The Horned Frogs' highest ranking was fourth by Phil Steele's.



TCU returns 16 of 22 starters, including nine from a defensive unit that has led the nation in total defense each of the last two seasons.

University to examine effects of health care reform for employees

The university will work with benefits consultants to determine the effects the recently passed health care reform legislation would have on faculty and staff members' health insurance plans, a human resources official said.

It is too early to determine what effects, if any, the legislation will have on employees' plans, said Tracy Thompson, benefits manager for the human resources department. The bill was signed into law by President Barack Obama on Tuesday.

While classes started Aug. 21, international students arrived for a two-day orientation Aug. 10, which was aimed to integrate more than 500 international students from more than 80 countries into the local, academic and national communities, according to the International Student Services Web site.

FORTWORTH, Texas -- The football team has had a tradition of families playing for the purple and white, from the Renfros to the Schobels. Brothers Logan and Tanner Brock are adding another family to the list.

Tanner saw extensive action at linebacker last season as a true freshman. He racked up 32 tackles and led the team with 14 special team tackles. He also made national headlines with a helmet-less block against Southern Methodist University that resulted in punt return touchdown and a No. 1 spot on ESPN's plays of the week.
