Violence toward the public doesn’t justify anger toward the government

Published Mar 2, 2010

What a terrifying experience it must have been. Sitting in one's office, doing what can only be imagined as extremely tedious work, when suddenly a loud burst, followed by silence and then chaos as fire and debris envelop you. The government building in which you work has been attacked because of what it represents, something that some have come to see as an over-arching and overly intrusive force in society. The incidence of which I am speaking is not the recent airplane attack on the IRS building, but a similar attack that occurred 15 years ago in Oklahoma City.

Horned Frogs defeat Colorado State 73-67

Published Feb 27, 2010

While it might be hard to confuse Daniel-Meyer Coliseum with Kansas' Allen Fieldhouse most nights, Saturday night's 73-67 Horned Frog victory felt like a made-for-ESPN game.

In a hard fought contest featuring six ties and nine lead changes, the Horned Frogs (13-16, 5-9 Mountain West) capitalized on Colorado State (15-13, 6-8) turnovers and missed shots down the stretch to fend off a Ram victory.

Moving conferences may not be the best option

Be careful what you wish, TCU faithful, because with conference realignment stewing and brewing, your Horned Frogs' BCS appearances might go from endangered to extinct by 2016.

Scenario 1:

After head coach Gary Patterson received a contract extension through 2016, he stated that he believed TCU could win a national championship without being in a BCS conference.

But that was before real talk surfaced that the Mountain West may be divided and squandered; TCU's Fiesta Bowl debacle may in fact have been its own Custer's Last Stand.

Philosophy professor presents and disproves both sides of abortion debate

Published Feb 26, 2010

Popular arguments for the moral status of abortion are considered unsound by most philosophers, a University of Colorado philosophy professor said Thursday night in Palko Hall.

The conflict between the embryo's right to life and the woman's right to control what happens inside her own body serves as the underlying issue on the debate on abortion, said Michael Tooley, a philosophy professor from the University of Colorado at Boulder and 2010 Green Honors Chair Professor for the philosophy department.
