Study abroad options too expensive for students

From day one, TCU encourages all students to study abroad. The admissions Web site even includes an interactive video feature with students broadcasting their personal international experiences to prospective students.


Few disagree that studying abroad is beneficial. But, if the university is going to highly recommend and advertise studying abroad, it should do something to make the option more affordable.

Equestrian team beats rival

The equestrian team got its revenge win Friday against Fresno State, the team that beat TCU Feb. 17 in the championship game of the Best of the West Tournament.


TCU won 10-5 reaching the team high of 10 points and winning by a team high of five points.


Senior Kindel Huffman, who was named MVP in equitation over fences with a score of 78, also set a school record with seven MVP titles this season.


Huffman said before the season began, she made a goal to win a MVP in all four classes this season.

Men’s tennis team still undefeated

The TCU men's tennis team continued its perfect spring season after its 7-0 win against the Minnesota Golden Gophers Saturday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.


TCU improved its overall record to 9-0 and freshman Zach Nichols clinched the victory for the Horned Frogs, winning his match in the fifth slot.


Nichols has been perfect this season in both doubles and singles, and with his wins Saturday, he improved his record to a combined 18-0.

Despite 11 hits and no errors, the Horned Frogs baseball team was not able to overcome an early five-run deficit, falling to the Cal State Fullerton Titans 11-5 Friday night at Lupton Stadium.


Ten of the 11 Titan runs scored with two outs, which head coach Jim Schlossnagle called "the difference in the game."


Schlossnagle said stronger pitching is the key to avoiding two-out outbursts.


"We just have to make better pitches," Schlossnagle said. "We didn't pitch very well with two outs, and they did a good job of hitting with two outs."
