The main types of swing, the East Coast and the West Coast, both use a six-beat pattern that can be performed to many types of music.

Throughout 2005, fans of the rock band Tool were teased with promises of a new album.A slow trickle of photos from recording sessions, unconfirmed studio news and a redesign of the welcome page of the band's official Web site heightened anticipation, but the year ended with nothing.

Instead of a new album, the band released two DVDs with artistic presentations of material from the band's 2001 release "Lateralus."

Frogs fall yet again

Frogs fall yet again

Published Jan 19, 2006

The Horned Frogs lost their sixth game in row Wednesday night, falling to the San Diego State Aztecs 76-57.As is now a motif this season, the Frogs fell into an early offensive slump from which they could not recover, finishing the game with a weak shooting percentage of 34.

Head coach Neil Dougherty said Wednesday's offensive struggles stemmed primarily from the team's inability to convert turnovers (SDSU had 24) into points.

"If there's any type of letdown, it was a mental one," Dougherty said. "It's hustling hard and not getting anything out of it."

It will be an unconventional night at the Bass Performance Hall, to say the least.Icelandic rock band Sigur R¢s rarely comes to the United States. Rather than play dark, smoky clubs and bars, however, the band is taking its act to the symphony hall stage.

Often compared to Bj”rk and Radiohead, Sigur R¢s, pronounced "si-ur rose," is Icelandic for "victory rose." The band was formed in 1994, on the same day that lead singer and guitarist Jonsi's sister was born. Her name, Sigurros, gave the band its name.

A lot has happened in the three years since Cat Power's last studio album.Following "You are Free," she's dropped Dave Grohl and Eddie Vedder in favor of the Memphis Rhythm Band, and she filled out her trademark spare sound with more than just a piano and guitar.

The brains behind the name, Chan Marshall, will release "The Greatest" on Jan. 24. Despite the name, "The Greatest" will feature 12 brand-new tracks from the Atlanta-bred troubadour.

My best friend doesn't understand why I keep going to sports movies. "It's not like you don't know who's going to win," she always tells me.

"Glory Road," the true story of the Texas Western University men's basketball team, which opened Friday, reminded me exactly why knowing the ending doesn't matter.

Josh Lucas ("Sweet Home Alabama", "A Beautiful Mind") plays a convincing Don Haskins, a coach who leads the unknown 1966 Miners to a 27-1 season and an NCAA championship over the University of Kentucky.

Online Exclusive: Dave Barry extended review

He's chronicled turning 40, lampooned Washington, turning 50, and even writing itself. Now, with "Dave Barry's Money Secrets," Dave Barry is back to spoof the world of money.Barry has never been one for subtle humor - which is immediately evidenced by the book's subtitle, "Like: Why Is There a Giant Eyeball on the Dollar?" - but his satirical take on American economics is razor sharp.
