TCU's 2011 football schedule could have been killer, or at least hard to criticize by ESPN's College GameDay crew. Let's take a look at what could have been:

-Big 12 nonconference match-ups against Texas Tech and Baylor.

-Conference slugfests against perennial top 25 teams in BYU and Utah.

-A Fiesta Bowl rematch against a Boise State team that was a field goal chip shot from representing the non-automatic qualifiers in the Rose Bowl over TCU.

Now let's take a look at the scheduling situation on the ground as of January 2011:

The Lady Frogs made two shots in the first half, shooting 9.1 percent, and shot 27.3 percent for the game as TCU dropped its first conference game of the season 65-54 against New Mexico to snap an eight-game winning streak.

"This is maybe the first [game] that I've been thoroughly disgusted with our effort as a team approach," head basketball coach Jeff Mittie said. "I thought our entire group was very individual tonight."

Senior guard Emily Carter and senior guard/forward Helena Sverrisdottir both added nine points, but shot 5-for-20 combined.

The Cassata High School library will be converted to the Phil Record Media Resource Center this summer in memoriam of former TCU journalism professor Phil Record, Cassata administrators said.

Cassata principal Nancy Martin said Record was an active board member at the school for several years and had helped the school in many areas.

"Phil touched so many people," Martin said. "There is such an outpouring from his life of people wanting to do something to honor his memory."

A bill calling to approve revising the Constitution of the Student Body to remove Programming Council as the body responsible for student programming passed in the House of Student Representatives meeting Tuesday night. In last Tuesday's House meeting, a revision pertaining to this same issue did not pass.

The former revision involved including the organization theCrew as a part of the Constitution change. According to the Skiff, theCrew replaced Programming Council this fall as the primary event-planning group in on-campus events.

TCU athletics director Chris Del Conte isn't often at a loss for words. The second half of my Tuesday sit-down with Del Conte touched on TCU's move to the Big East, the Pittsburgh Steelers' scheduled practices on campus and even the athletic director's favorite childhood sports teams.

Q: Where are you in terms of rescheduling a non-conference game after Texas Tech backed out?

Award-winning Café Brazil will open its first Tarrant County restaurant in place of Los Vaqueros, beneath the GrandMarc.

Brant Wood, CEO of Café Brazil, said there are 10 locations around Dallas, and he felt the restaurant's 24/7 concept is perfect for college students.

"We are known in the business for taking over failed restaurant space and converting it into a Café Brazil and being successful doing that," Wood said.

The Board of Trustees and the university have been discussing renovating the Greek houses on campus. Craig Allen, director of Housing & Residence Life, said the proposed plans include a common area for students as well as a new dining room. Allen also said a project of this size would take three to five years to complete.

Whatever the final design is, for the sake of the students at TCU, let's hope the school will have a well thought-out plan for construction that ensures on-campus housing for students without sacrificing several more parking spaces.

The first and only conference matchup between TCU and Boise State, originally slotted to be a home game for TCU, will now be played at Boise's Bronco Stadium, according to a press release from The Mountain West Conference's Board of Directors.

The game was originally scheduled to play at Amon G. Carter Stadium for the 2011 football season.

The MWC said it approved the recommendations from the conference's athletic directors on the grounds that it would address current and future scheduling issues caused by shifts in MWC membership.
