Students should still exercise caution

Published Nov 8, 2010

On a beautiful campus like TCU's, it's easy for students to feel safe. But incidents like the gunpoint robbery just one block south of Berry Street Friday night remind us how careful we must be when we leave the TCU bubble.

After the sexual assault that occurred in the fall of last year, the university formed the Safety and Security Committee to address safety on campus, according to a previous Daily Skiff article. Since then, the university has increased the number of street lights on campus as a response to the student request for better lighting.

The iPod is a musical, technological revolution

The iPod is a musical, technological revolution

Pardon me for a moment, as I gingerly pull my earbuds out of my ear canals and turn off my iPod before I can continue writing. The iPod was released nine years ago this October and is one of the biggest success stories regarding electronics this decade, selling millions and providing parents a good device to take away from their kids for punishment.

That being said, iPods have become pervasive throughout society, much like cell phones now are. Both devices were once new to the market, and now most people ages 6 and up have one of the two or both.

Republicans need to be cooperative, not obstruct

Published Nov 8, 2010

The 2010 midterm elections were an obvious example that voters were not happy with the direction of the country and did not see the change in Washington that they envisioned two years earlier. Voters were still concerned about the unemployment rate, and they have now put Republicans into office in hopes that they will adequately deal with unemployment issues.

As a result of these elections, I expect three main things will happen.

Frogs leave Salt Lake City with heads held high

In 2008, the Horned Frogs left Salt Lake City with their heads hung low after a 13-10 loss that snapped their winning streak and a season full of promise. But after an unpredictable 47-7 blowout over the University of Utah Saturday, the 10-0 Horned Frogs remain at No. 3 in the BCS polls this week and advanced to No. 3 in the AP and USA Today polls. Now a BCS bowl game appearance is on the horizon.

Kevin Ash, chief administrative officer of the Rose Bowl game, said that TCU's performance against Utah sent a message in the BCS.
