Lori Muhr found her farm on Facebook was not doing as well since beginning the new master's program in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences.

The farm Muhr referred to was a virtual one featured in an application designed for members to care for farm animals.

Muhr is one of the six inaugural students in Harris College's clinical nurse leader program, which began in fall 2009. She works as an emergency nurse at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth and said the program was similar to having another full-time job.

Students looking to save money on textbooks may soon have access to another option via a new book rental program initiated nationally by Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, a bookstore official said.

Roman Coronado, textbook manager at the university bookstore, said a textbook rental program at the university "could be a potentially good idea," but that the university has not confirmed any plans to implement the program. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers first introduced the rental option at a regional meeting a few months ago.

Senior film-TV-digital media major Sam Wunderl was interning for "The Tonight Show" with Conan O'Brien, before O'Brien on Thursday struck a deal with NBC, ending his contract.

Wunderl said he was planning to stay in Los Angeles until June, but the uncertain future of the show has left many on staff worried for their jobs.

Wunderl said the deal between O'Brien and NBC was at a lengthy standstill prior to Thursday because Conan wanted more severance pay for his staff.

Junior nursing major Amanda Michelle Bebout will be remembered as a good friend, a caring nurse, a fearless adventurer, a devoted daughter, and most of all, a loving sister.

Senior entrepreneurial management major Andrew Kangerga said Bebout gave the best hugs and had a love for all of humanity.

"I'm sure she wishes she could take away all our pain," he said.

The Leadership Center and the Neeley School of Business are collaborating to bring guest speakers from TOMS Shoes, Starbucks and Kodak to campus during the TCU Leadership Week Jan. 25-29.

Jimmy Hopper, a senior history major and Student Development Services intern, said speakers include TOMS Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie, Sen. Florence Shapiro and Sandra Taylor, former senior vice president of corporate social responsibility for Starbucks and former vice president and director of public affairs for Kodak.

After a two-match sweep of Air Force last weekend, the rifle team (6-1) will travel to Lincoln, Neb. to face the Cornhuskers on Saturday.

The team is looking to continue a six-match winning streak as well as a second straight win over Nebraska this season, but will have to do so without two of its best shooters, head coach Karen Monez said.

TCU last defeated Nebraska 4,651-4,615 on Nov. 21 in a match where multiple Horned Frogs set personal bests.
