Lines, luggage, lapsed time. We've all experienced the frustration of airport security. Yet with all the hassle that seems to build up year after year to provide for our safety, the shoe and underwear bombers seem to somehow slip through security easier than a can of hair spray.

As U.S. airline security grows more technologically advanced, so does the technological knowledge of terrorists. Prices are increasing, but safety is not. The answer may lie in face-to-face interaction instead of heavier technological bulk.

No. 22 TCU rebounded from their loss in Wyoming by beating the San Diego State Aztecs 80-63 at home Saturday.The Aztecs were chosen as the preseason favorite to win the MWC.

The Lady Frogs had a high-energy start in the first five minutes, hitting three shots from the 3-point range. The team never trailed during the game, and even held a 24-point edge late in the second half. Regardless, Head Coach Jeff Mittie didn't downplay the talent of the SDSU team.

"It was a grind even though the margin was there," Mittie said.

Soccer

Two players were added this week to the Horned Frog soccer team that will compete in what head coach Dan Abdalla called, "the year we've been building for."

Kim Castleberry will transfer into the program from Texas A&M, where she played in 25 games, scoring two goals and one assist for the Aggies during her freshman season in 2009. Top Drawer Soccer named her the number one recruit in the nation coming out of Prosper High School in 2009 and Abdalla said she will immediately become the fastest player on the team.

In the past decade, several events have shown how well Americans can come together in the face of a crisis. Natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and horrifying tragedies like Sept. 11 rallied the nation, with people coming together to assist those most impacted.

Massive relief efforts within the United States should be applauded, and similar responses should be encouraged when disasters occur abroad.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) got himself into some hot water for his comments regarding President Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential election. In the recently released political gossip book, "Game Change," authors John Heilemann and Mark Halperin wrote that Reid, in an off-the-record comment, referred to the president as a "light-skinned" African American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." Reid's shocking comments do very little to help his troubled reelection bid and serve as a mild embarrassment for the president.

Without an opportunity to break into sports management or marketing, David Lindow found a way. He started the TCU Sports Networking Club, alongside sophomore business majors Kevin Able and Carrie Patterson.

Lindow, a sophomore marketing major and president of the club, said he started the club because he wanted to work in the sports industry one day and wanted to help others on the same path.
