I saw a great little number on YouTube.com a few days ago by some influential celebrities attempting to use reverse psychology to get people to vote. The video was called "Don't Vote." It was effective.

I'm already a registered voter and although I believe my vote is merely a grain of sand, it's my piece of the beach. We can all agree if everyone thought cynically about his or her voice in the world, the system would collapse. So, thank you to all those positive people out there who acknowledge that although you don't really matter, it's important to let people know you exist.

The Christmas season seems to start earlier each year. Just the other weekend, I saw Christmas decorations for sale already at my local Home Depot.

Even singers are getting an early start, if Faith Hill's "Joy to the World", which was released Sept. 30, is any indication.

The university admitted more students from its wait list this fall because of concern among students about being able to afford going to college, an admission official said.

Ray Brown, dean of admissions, said the university was short in its expected number of students deposited in April. By April 29, the university was about 140 deposits behind the previous year, Brown said. He said he believes the reason for this was concern about the economy.

The university admitted about 300 students from the wait list, about 200 of which enrolled, Brown said.

As the College of Communication continues to work toward developing a sports broadcasting degree, the college's radio station is ahead of the curve.

KTCU FM 88.7 "The Choice" has added a high school football game-of-the-week broadcast to its weekly lineup, said Russell Scott, director of the station. Radio-TV-film students are responsible for the on-air content, Scott said.

"Instead of just going into the classroom and talking about it, now we can give them experience," Scott said.

The show airs Fridays from about 7:15 p.m. to 10 p.m.

It's a bad grade for TCU. The university should have at least deserved a better grade than a D-plus.

According to the 2008 U.S. News & World Report's college rankings, TCU made a D-plus on the 2008 College Sustainability Report Card. How could TCU receive such a bad grade when the school looks eco-friendly with purple bikes and bags and the university's efforts toward building energy efficient buildings?

Food has always been a point of contention between TCU students and the administration. The quality of the food, the variety, the cost, the nutrition-- - all have been argued about countless times, fortunately without any bloodshed.

But I'm not going to waste my time ranting about TCU dining. That's been done. What I am fighting for may seem insignificant to the majority of the university, but it is something that needs to be addressed.

As most students do several times a day, I have to cross University Drive to get to and from classes scattered about campus.

Simple enough in itself, it is made somewhat slower by the heavy "green" traffic on bicycles and the folks who congregate in large blobs and have conversations in the middle of the walkways. I am willing to look past all those distractions so long as I make it to class on time.

Some students will be going clubbing over Fall Break. But they won't be going dancing, they will be playing for their club sports teams.

Two TCU club teams - ice hockey and men's soccer - are scheduled to be in action this weekend, all in the midst of Fall Break. However the club tennis team opted out of a tournament because of the break.
