Drinking offenses on the rise during event season

The Fort Worth Police Department, along with the Arlington and Grand Prairie police departments, are in the beginning stage of creating a program to deter underage drinking and driving, specifically for this time of year, a Fort Worth police sergeant said.


Sgt. Rodney Bangs of the Fort Worth Police Department said motorists driving under the influence and traffic fatalities are more frequent throughout the country this time of year.

After four years in college, seniors should be looking forward to a career and a new life outside of college classes.


I, like other seniors, am looking forward to these things, but unlike many of my peers, I won't wear the purple gown, walk across Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and shake Chancellor Boschini's hand until December.


I always thought I had a set plan for my life, including leaving college in four years. But then, halfway through my junior year as I was growing more and more unsure of my original choice of major, I took a leap of faith and changed it.

From choreographed wedding dances to the ranting of a woman over a divorce to the latest comedy bits, most of the videos are pretty harmless and entertaining.

With the craze of becoming famous in the online "ce-Web-rity" world, people have resorted to outrageous stunts to try to get attention. But the most horrifying trend that has appeared recently is videos of girls beating up each other.

A broken gas line from a construction accident resulted in two separate evacuations from the Brown-Lupton Student Center and Reed Hall, and disrupted classes Wednesday.


Larry Markley, director of the Student Center, said he called the Physical Plant after staff members began to smell natural gas leaking into Suite 111 at the north end of the building.


"They (Physical Plant) came over and said that we needed to evacuate," Markley said. "It wasn't in the building, but some of the gas was leaking into the building."
