No excuse for Patterson’s lie

Published Sep 5, 2007

Gary Patterson has been consistently tight-lipped during most of his time at TCU, but few thought before last week that the words he did utter might be laced with half-truths.Patterson admitted in Friday's Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he lied to reporters about senior Tommy Blake's condition, saying the star defensive end was out with a stomach bug when he was actually hospitalized.

It's much more than just a little white lie, though, because he didn't just lie to reporters.

He lied to the fans.

Killing Calories, losing pounds

Eat your vegetables or no dessert. This is a phrase no child wants to hear. Kids basically have no control over what they eat. Parents buy and prepare the food, and the children have to gulp down whatever appears on their plate. If they do not like what it is, they squirm in their chairs praying that somehow that disgusting pile of green will magically disappear. TCU's nutrition counselor Stephanie Dickerson said, "students are like kids in a candy store," once they get into college, they embrace their newfound freedom and make poor eating choices, she said.

Football: UT ticket lottery receives mixed student reactions

Even though the Horned Frogs take on the Baylor Bears in Saturday's season opener, the buzz around campus has been about the team's trip to Austin to face the University of Texas Longhorns. But for most students, they'll have to be satisfied with watching the game outside of the stadium or from the comfort of home. Due to the large demand for tickets and the limited supply of tickets given to TCU, a lottery was organized to determine which students would receive a ticket to the game.

Football: New season has a good tune to it

Growing up, music has helped to define feelings, emotions and memorable moments in my life. Whether it was belting out Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer" during a night out at Pete's Piano Bar or bumping and grinding at a nightclub with a random female to The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize," music has undoubtedly shaped our outlook on how we look at life.

For me, Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" changed the way I felt about TCU football this season.
