The Frogs beat San Diego State 40-35

The No. 3 Horned Frogs are just one game away from claiming the Mountain West Conference championship, after a close 40-35 win over San Diego State University.

The Horned Frog defense couldn't hold SDSU (7-2) and managed to double the amount of points allowed in the six previous games, 16 points, in just one game against the Aztecs.

"Fourteen" was an important number for the Aztecs early on in the game, Aztec junior quarterback

Lindley shares the same number as Frog quarterback Dalton, 14, and 14 was the margin of lead SDSU had to open the game.

Frogs beat Jackson State 86-64

The Frogs kicked off their 99th season against Jackson State Friday night with a 86-62 win in Daniel Meyer Coliseum.

We came out strong and finished strong, junior Ronnie Moss said.

In their third meeting against the Horned Frogs, the Tigers started off the game with a basket but TCU was quick to answer with a goal by Moss.

Moss, TCU's active career leader in points, went on to take the Frogs to a 12-4 lead just 4 minutes into the half.

Lady Frogs beat Houston Baptist 96-38

The Lady Horned Frogs started off with jitters Friday night at Daniel Meyer Coliseum, but took a lead within the first five minutes of the game that was tough to break.

In their second meeting with the Houston Baptist Huskies, TCU came away with a 96-38 win. This marks the eleventh season opening win for the Lady Frogs.

Senior guard Helena Sverrisdottir said the team used the lopsided matchup to focus on plays and improve themselves.

For Coach Jeff Mittie it's all about how the team performs in the long run.

TCU is coming off one of the biggest wins in school history, a 47-7 victory at Utah. The next step on the road to a BCS game is San Diego State Saturday at home. This will be the last home game before renovations to Amon G. Carter Stadium begin. SDSU has a 7-2 record and is coming in hot, having won its last four games. The Aztecs' two losses were by a combined six points. TCU has hit its stride this season, so both teams will be ready to play.

Since her graduation in 1968, Betty Buckley has been a trailblazer, making TCU proud as a prestigious alumnus with a successful theater and music career.

Buckley came to TCU on a journalism scholarship, but she said her heart was always for the theatre. Her father would not allow her to study theatre as a major, but the theatre department director created a theatre minor program that she participated in.

"They wanted me to be editor of the Daily Skiff, but I was too busy," Buckley said.

The university's efforts to "go green' in the past year have not been overlooked, as shown by an improved grade on The College Sustainability Report Card released at the end of October.

Issued by the Sustainable Endowments Institute, an organization which advocates and researches campus involvement in sustainability, the institute gave the university a B- for 2011, a full letter-grade improvement from the C- it received in 2010.
