Editor's Note: The Daily Skiff was not allowed to interview the coach or players after the game. The volleyball team did not let its undefeated record at home go down easily Wednesday, but a Big 12 opponent proved to be too much for the Horned Frogs.

The team lost a five-game match to the Oklahoma Sooners (31-29, 25-30, 30-18, 27-30, 15-17) - a match that went down to the final point.

With both teams coming off back-to-back loses, the Frogs drop to 15-5, while the Sooners improve to 13-4.

Executive Student Government Association candidates will be able to spend an extra $300 on their campaigns in November after the House passed a bill Tuesday, 27-14, to extend campaign expenses in the Student Body Code. Kelly Barnes, sophomore class representative, proposed the bill and said the motivation for the legislation was fueled by the low voter turnout last year and the lack of advertisement options for less than $200.

Professional hockey entertaining, deserves more fan support

During the weekend, the National Hockey League kicked off the 2007-2008 regular season in London with a pair of games between the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. My guess would be that only about 2 percent of Americans were aware these games were even occurring as the rest of the country hunkered down for a hearty weekend of college and professional football.

The fact of the matter is professional hockey ranks somewhere between professional bowling and competitive watermelon seed spitting in the minds of most Americans.

Sad, but true.

It was a production of "Amadeus" that made him utter the words, "I wanna do that!" Since then, he has dreamed of acting. David Fluitt, a 2004 graduate, will play the lead role in "Macbeth" for Shakespeare Dallas this month.

Fluitt, now 31, grew up in South Texas, before moving to East Texas in 1995. The youngest of three children by many years, Fluitt said he basically grew up as an only child.

"I think it helped contribute to my imagination," Fluitt said. "I had to come up with ways to entertain myself when no one else was around."

Biking best form of transportation

Published Oct 2, 2007

A surge in the number of students riding bicycles on campus this semester has sent pedestrians diving for the nearest patch of grass.

If the rising popularity of the bicycle is any indication, there are good reasons to consider an alternative means of transportation to walking or driving on campus.

The panic when you wake up and realize you have class in 10 minutes is a good place to start.

With a bike, a 10-minute walk can turn into a three-minute ride.
