TCU could use more drama

Published Sep 22, 2005

RTVF soap opera is great start but we need full stationThere may be enough drama in most college students' lives, but maybe there is room for a little more.

The radio-TV-film department's recent announcement that it is going to put together a student-run soap opera is a great idea.

Where else but college will students get the opportunity to learn the ropes and experiment with different forms of media from newspapers to television, from theater to film?

Football team needs another Browne

Published Sep 22, 2005

Football used to be so easy. You'd drive the ball inside the other team's territory, and you'd score one way or another. You'd either score a touchdown, or you'd settle for a field goal.

And now, I'd love to simply settle for a field goal.

If you're a junior or senior, you were spoiled from 2001 to 2003. Nick Browne held down the fort connecting on 65 field goals in his three years.

He holds 10 school records, including career field goals made, field goals made in a season and field goals made in a single game.

Sixth gradeWho is your role model?
Denzel Washington

What's your idea of a perfect day?
When everything goes well for me. I go to class and get an A on a test and then go to practice and catch every ball. Or, if it's a Saturday, I catch every ball and then go out at night and do my thing.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to play college football and be in a fraternity.

Fast food reflects trends

Fast food reflects trends

Americans love fast food. I know I do. While I do appreciate the work that goes into, and the quality of a "home-cooked" meal, there is just something about being able to get what I want relatively fast.

In this country, there are restaurants everywhere you look. Some of them are chains like McDonald's and Wendy's, while others are little hole-in-the-wall joints run by mom and pop.

In fact, there are so many restaurants that it is easy to get lost in the sea of fried and greasy goodness.

When receivers coach Jarrett Anderson was asked to describe typical "Coop," he envisioned him "walking into practice with his chest out, with body oil on like he had just been sunbathing somewhere."When the Frogs mention "Coop," they are talking about Ervin Dickerson, a third-year wide receiver from Beeville.

Dickerson's background may be a little different from what most of his teammates have experienced. He was adopted at a young age by a Hispanic family and raised in that environment.
