Harry Potter’s Quidditch might have potential to be an NCAA sport

Quidditch, a game created by J.K. Rowling in her fictional "Harry Potter" books, is gaining popularity among high school and college students in the Muggle, or non-magical, world.

Valerie Fischman, a student at the University of Maryland, is petitioning the NCAA to recognize Quidditch as an official sport. The process, however, could take years because athletic directors from at least 50 colleges must also petition the NCAA for recognition.

Senior Design show focuses on different types

As graduation nears, five graphic design majors are busy adding the finishing touches to their work before the TCU Graphic Design Senior Show. The event gives students a chance to show off their hard work and is an opportunity to get their pieces noticed by prospective employers.

This year, the theme for the show is "The Right Type," a concept presented by senior Rachel Clary. The graduating students each presented a theme and voted on which one they believed would be best for the senior show.

Senior dance concert will be the last in the old building

Just as the university's football players recently played their last home game in Amon G. Carter Stadium before its renovation, students in the dance department will be performing for the last time in their current space on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The show, called "The Dance Studio," will be a showcase of projects by 15 seniors in a choreography class. Each senior has created an entirely new dance work to be presented in a fully-produced concert, Elizabeth Gillaspy, associate professor of ballet, said.

Men’s basketball tops Prairie View A&M 78-61

Junior guard J.R. Cadot led TCU in scoring with 15 points and was perfect from the field, shooting 7-for-7 on field goals, as the Horned Frog men's basketball team defeated Prairie View A&M 78-61 Wednesday night.

TCU entered the game against the Panthers looking to improve its home record to 5-0 and its overall record to 6-2 for the first time since the 2000-01 season.

Cadot also led the way defensively, reeling in nine rebounds for the Horned Frogs.

Student Graduation Checklist:

- Order your cap, gown and diploma

o A late fee will be assessed on cap, gown and diploma orders that are placed after Nov. 12.

- Pick up your cap and gown at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum

o Dec. 17 9 a.m. &- 4:30 p.m.

"Freshman and sophomore year, a bunch of friends and I would go late at night and play Sardines [a game like hide and seek] on the academic side of campus. We'd hide in the most awkward spots in Sid Rich[Sid W. Richardson Building], in the stairwell behind the library and even in a storm drain next to Beasley."
