As the cliche line goes, "You never know what's going to happen" and in college football, the weekly rankings are a constant reminder of that.

Of course, the rankings have been very favorable to BCS conferences, which is to be expected. The Horned Frogs still stand at a respectable No. 5, but after seeing what some teams have done in recent times, the Frogs need to step it up if they want to make a case for a high-level BCS game.

A few members of the Texas State Board of Education believe that the history books in the Texas school systems have a pro-Islamic bias based on Middle Eastern countries investing in textbook publishing companies. The board wrote a proposal this summer that would send a message to the publishers, convincing them that if they want to continue selling books in the American school system, they must keep a balance between Christianity and Islam.

There is a new way for students to express themselves 8212; sometimes in six characters or fewer.

My Plates specialty license plate marketing vendor is striving to make personalized license plates more popular and diverse throughout Texas, college campuses included.

My Plates spokesperson Kim Drummond said the company is a relatively new license plate vendor aimed to get Texas more excited about special license plates. The company was contracted by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles in 2009 to provide personalized plates to Texas drivers, Drummond said.

The TCU Student Government Association performs complicated and demanding tasks through a network of branches, committees and advisors. The student body cannot hope to gain full awareness of each decision occurring in its government. However, one of the most significant changes in student government since the end of the last academic year has been the transition of much student programming authority from the Programming Council to a newly-minted organization known as TheCrew.

Students start on-campus food delivery service

After researching how to start a business for months within the walls of the Mary Couts Burnett Library, one university student has put his plan into action.

Owner of Horned Frog Delivery Luke Walton said he founded the company, which delivers food and convenience items to a variety of locations, after noticing a need for the service in the community. The company began making deliveries on Aug. 23, he said.

Volleyball

The TCU volleyball team swept the Air Force Falcons Saturday at home. Senior outside hitter Irene Hester, senior middle blocker Christy Hudson and junior middle blocker Kristen Hester combined for 35 of the team's 48 kills.

Kristen Hester also had a match high of six blocks. The Frogs are now 11-6 overall and 2-1 in the Mountain West Conference. They will play New Mexico 7 p.m. Friday at the University Rec Center.

Over the past month, the Daily Skiff has been peppered with stories of enterprising students. In September, senior Brent Skoda was named a finalist in the Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year competition for his unique and successful business, collegefitness.com. Today, the paper features two different food delivery businesses, both started and run by students.

It is great to see students who not only work hard enough to run a business while juggling a full load of classes but who are creative in their endeavors.

Students bring home cooking to campus

Two students plan to bring home cooking to campus with their food delivery service called Close to Home: Cooking Delivered.

Sophomore business major Alex Winston and junior business major DJ Walsted started the business to make some extra money and to spend time cooking, a hobby they both enjoy.

The company will offer the flavor of homemade food with the quality of a fine dining restaurant and the option of delivery, Walsted said. The company plans to takeorders online and will deliver on campus.
