TCU should have little trouble against Wyoming

Published Oct 6, 2010

Wyoming won their second game of the season against Toledo 20-15 last weekend. The Cowboys will face a much tougher test against the No. 5 Horned Frogs. TCU remains ranked fifth for a second week and is competing with Boise State in the rankings. Boise State was passed by Oregon in this week's polls. Wyoming offers a direct comparison between TCU and Boise State since the Broncos throttled Wyoming 51-6 September 18. TCU must use this game to gear up for tougher games on this schedule such as Air Force and Utah.

The incentive, a 38-inch TV, will be given to the fan that attends the most games during the spring season.

Social media plays vital role in national disasters

Social media plays vital role in national disasters

Tweets. Status updates. Blog posts. Our lives are saturated with social networking sites. Known among college students as the great tool of procrastination, Facebook is especially notorious for sucking much-needed time out of an already busy day. There's no indication that social network users will stop visiting these sites anytime soon. In my opinion, then, it's important that something be done to put them to good use and let something worthwhile come out of all the time that people spend online.

Positive change can come from tragic loss

In the midst of trouble, it is often difficult to cling to optimism.

Though death and disaster could lead to despair, often positive change arises in the wake of tragedy.

The partnership formed by the Brown-Lupton University Union and Gamma Phi Beta to bring the Rachel's Challenge College Program to campus is one example of the positive changes that can come from loss.

Frogs need to step it up

Frogs need to step it up

As the cliche line goes, "You never know what's going to happen" and in college football, the weekly rankings are a constant reminder of that.

Of course, the rankings have been very favorable to BCS conferences, which is to be expected. The Horned Frogs still stand at a respectable No. 5, but after seeing what some teams have done in recent times, the Frogs need to step it up if they want to make a case for a high-level BCS game.

Accuracy more important than apparent biases

A few members of the Texas State Board of Education believe that the history books in the Texas school systems have a pro-Islamic bias based on Middle Eastern countries investing in textbook publishing companies. The board wrote a proposal this summer that would send a message to the publishers, convincing them that if they want to continue selling books in the American school system, they must keep a balance between Christianity and Islam.
