The Frogs kicked their season off to a solid start and are now 3-0 after a weekend series against the Sam Houston State Bearkats.



The No. 11 Frogs scored 31 runs on 40 hits in the series.



Friday night showcased first-class pitching from juniors Steven Maxwell and Trent Appleby and senior Eric Marshall, which led to a 4-0 victory for the Frogs.

Wandering around the Cross/Talk student art exhibition, sophomore Spanish major Betty Gerecht said she had no expectations for her first visit to a Cross/Talk exhibition. She said she was drawn to an oil painting of a headless woman in a dress. The harsh brush strokes provided texture, and the pastel colors caught her eye.

The painting Gerecht saw is titled "Speechless" by Casee Safford, a junior psychology major and painting minor.

University and Brite officials meet to negotiate payment

Despite financial disagreements between Brite Divinity School and the university, the institutions will not split up, officials from both parties said.

Brite and university officials will meet today to negotiate costs the university said Brite owes TCU, said Brite President Newell Williams.



Brite paid the university $1.04 million this year, Williams said, but he did not say how much the university charged Brite for the next contract year, which is the amount being negotiated.

SGA to host first town hall meeting

Student Government Association representatives said they hope students attend the first Student Relations Town Hall meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the student organizations area of the Brown-Lupton University Union so they can measure interest in SGA initiatives.

The SGA's Student Organizations Committee formed the monthly meeting to hear the opinions from the student body and provide direct feedback to questions, SGA Student Relations Committee Chair Myra Mills wrote in an e-mail.

Women’s tennis team falls to Razorbacks 5-2

The No. 29 TCU women's tennis team lost 5-2 to the No. 15 Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday afternoon at the indoor courts of the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

All three Horned Frogs doubles teams dropped matches to the Razorbacks.



TCU's Kayla Duncan and Nina Munch-Soegaard, nationally ranked as the No. 22 doubles team going into the match, dropped their set 8-6 to Anouk Tigu and Claudine Paulson. Maria Babanova and Katariina Tuohimaa also lost their doubles set 8-6. Idunn Hertzberg and Gaby Mastromarino lost their set 9-7.

After loss in San Diego, women’s basketball team ready to face UNLV

After suffering a tough loss on the road to San Diego State University, TCU women's basketball will return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and try to continue their home-court success tonight against UNLV.

Last week, the SDSU Aztecs took control of the game with an intense pace from the start, leading to an uphill battle for the Lady Frogs. Falling 84-61, the loss snapped a four-game winning streak. As a result, TCU has dropped out of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings.

The university may have another day off tomorrow, as the weather forecast is calling for snow in the Fort Worth area.

There is a 70 percent chance of precipitation for the area Tuesday, with a chance of up to two inches of snow in the Tarrant County area, said meteorologist Vick Corbelli from the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.



Fort Worth is under a winter storm watch because the temperature Tuesday will be somewhere between 32 and 36 degrees with ice and snow expected, he said.
