2,500 yards of swimming, 30 miles of biking and 10 miles of running. For the average person, this could be a daunting task. For members of the TCU triathlon club, it's just an average week.

After less than two months of training as a group, members of the triathlon club, Tri Frogs, are preparing to compete in the club's first triathlon event, the Monster Triathlon, in Keller on Sunday. The group, which is in its first semester as an official club, is open to students, faculty and staff, said Tri Frog member Jason Eagar, associate director of the TCU Leadership Center.

When psychologists Karyn Purvis and David Cross were approached by adoptive parents who had concerns about their childrens' transitions into their new families, they decided that the consequences of ignoring their pleas were too great to remain inactive. The following summer they started Hope Connection, a camp to create an environment where they could observe and research adopted, neglected, at-risk and traumatized children.

Frogs must put constant pressure on Hall

The Frogs have faced teams with prolific offenses for the past two years with great star power to back up highly-ranked team stats. Spiller and have come out victorious against an Air Force team that was ranked second in the nation in rush offense at the time.

But TCU hasn't faced an offense like this.

Campus renovations keep steady pace

TCU has come a long way since the fall of 1911, when the doors opened for the first semester in the current Fort Worth location. Initially, there were three buildings: an academic and administrative building called the Main, now Reed Hall, Jarvis Hall for the female students and a male dormitory named Goode, which was in the location of present-day Clark Hall. As former Emeritus Dean of Students, Libby Proffer's "A History of TCU" explains, those original alumni didn't have access to the ever-growing amenities the campus offers today.
