Horned Frogs fall to Utes in first tourney action

TCU spoiled an opportunity to impress the NCAA Tournament selection committee in its bid to host a regional, losing to Utah on Wednesday night. Sloppy play and three errors contributed to the Horned Frogs' 9-7 loss on day two of the Mountain West Conference Baseball Championships at Lupton Stadium.

The team led 4-2 after three innings, but allowed the Utes to score six runs in a fourth inning that saw 10 hitters come to the plate and the Horned Frogs never regained the lead. Utah's C.J. Cron delivered the inning's big hit with a two-RBI double.

San Diego State star pitcher leaves in top of eighth inning

San Diego State's No. 1 draft pick prospect Stephen Strasburg left the Aztec's second Mountain West Championships game in the bottom of the eighth inning with tightness in his right back and side area.

Strasburg had held the New Mexico Lobo's scoreless through 8 when he was lifted. The Aztecs went on to win the game 2-1 despite the Lobo's scoring a run and loading the bases in the bottom of the ninth.



Aztec manager Tony Gwynn didn't seem too concerned by Strasburg's injury after the game.

TCU clinches MWC title with win against Rebels

The baseball team clinched its fourth straight Mountain West Conference regular season championship Friday by defeating the Rebels of UNLV, 14-10.

TCU (34-14) clinched the title with a conference record of 14-5 and still has one more game to play against UNLV Saturday at 2 p.m. San Diego State and BYU currently share second place in the conference with 14-8 records and one game remaining.

It has been more than six years since Savana Redding, who was then a 13-year-old student at Safford Middle School in Arizona, was forced into a strip search by school officials looking for two ibuprofen pills.

Now, at the age of 19, Redding is hoping the U.S. Supreme Court will do something about the injustice she suffered as a young girl.



After a teacher found ibuprofen pills on Redding's classmate, she asked the girl where she got them and the girl indicated -- by pointing - that she had gotten them from Redding.

One in three sexually active people will have contracted a sexually transmitted disease by age 24, according to a new campaign for STD awareness.

MTV is pairing with the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation to create It's Your (Sex) Life, a program that will increase awareness and encourage young adults to get tested.



Nikki Kay, a media representative from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said she anticipates more than 19 million new cases of STDs in 2009 in the United States.

Thompson said students seek government jobs because of the stability offered and because the expansion of government resources has led to hiring more employees.

Alumni return to campus as staff members

Alumnus Jason Eagar, director of student programs and young alumni for TCU Annual Fund, said that after he graduated in 2002 he began work at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He said the job was a good opportunity, but when he was notified of an opening for a position at TCU, he could not turn it down.
