TCU Defeats UNLV 68-60; Sverrisdottir career assists leader

Senior Helena Sverrisdottir broke TCU's career assists record, scored a game-high 24 points and had a career-high seven steals in a 68-60 victory over UNLV Saturday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Senior Emily Carter added 13 points and had six assists.

"For (Sverrisdottir) to have the assist record is a special record here, because we've had some very good players that have had that," said head basketball coach Jeff Mittie. "For that to happen it takes a team, you got to make some shots after you pass it."

TCU faces second consecutive ranked opponent at No. 25 UNLV

TCU will try to end a three-game skid when the Frogs travel to Las Vegas, Nev. Saturday to face No. 25 UNLV at the Thomas & Mack Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.

The game can be watched on The Mtn. (DirecTV channel 616) or listened to on 820 AM (WBAP) and 88.7 FM (KTCU). GameTracker and radio broadcast can also be accessed on GoFrogs.com.

TCU, 9-7 overall this season, looks to even its Mountain West Conference record at 1-1 after TCU dropped their league opener at home Wednesday against No. 6 San Diego State.

Lady Frogs look to stay unbeaten against UNLV at home

In terms of continuing current winning trends, there isn't a better time for UNLV to unpack their bags in Fort Worth8212;TCU is looking to win its fourth game in-a-row Saturday, while the Lady Rebels have never won a ballgame within the confines of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Lady Frogs edge out San Diego State

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Sophomore Starr Crawford recorded 16 points and 13 boards Wednesday night to lead TCU to an 49-47 victory over San Diego State at Viejas Arena.

TCU (9-6) continued a three-game winning streak and is 1-0 in Mountain West Conference play. San Diego State dropped to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in league play. The 49-47 victory is the second win in the Jeff Mittie era and fourth in school history where the Frogs have scored less then 50 points and won.

TCU extends Patterson?s contract

TCU has extended head football coach Gary Patterson's contract through 2018.

TCU chancellor Victor Boschini and director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte announced Friday night that two years were added to Patterson's original deal, according to a release.

As a private institution TCU is not obligated to release salary figures.

"Gary Patterson is simply the best football coach in America," Del Conte said in a statement. "He has done a remarkable job in energizing a campus and community around his program and TCU as a whole."

TCU couldn't hand No. 6 San Diego State (16-0) their first loss of the basketball season, falling to the Aztecs 66-53 in the Horned Frogs' Mountain West Conference opener at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

TCU (9-7) held their own in the first half while junior guard Ronnie Moss became the fifth Frog to score over 1,000 points and record over 300 assists, but the individual feat was overshadowed by the Aztecs' second-half display of why they are one of seven undefeated teams remaining in the nation.

After an undefeated season and a Rose Bowl championship, TCU's football team has more celebrating to do.

Horned Frog fans have been invited for a celebration in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Sunday, Jan. 16 at 4 p.m.

The public is invited at no charge. The doors to the Coliseum and concession

stands will open at 2:30 p.m.
